Fatboy Slim

Fatboy Slim has a “concert” on my birthday. Too bad it’s in Massachusetts. He’s playing with Marilyn Manson among many others at the WBCN River Rave 2001 at Foxboro Stadium.

I don’t really care about the rest. I would go just to see Fatboy. The last time I saw him, it was one of the best shows of my life. Absolutely fantastical. Oh well, it’s too late to do anything about it now. Now tell me what you think.

Worst User Interface EVER!

Sometimes you have to sit back and wonder what designers of software smoke when they design the User Interface (UI) for their software. If you have ever been forced to use a horrible piece of software, you know what I mean! When I found the Interface Hall of Shame, I instantly related with their experiences, tribulations, and feelings about the current crop of UIs in today’s software. This is especially so since I had a chance to play with Lotus Notes, which as the worst UI I have ever seen. However, I think this will help change things for the better, as software designers start to understand what they should be aiming for. What is the worst UI you have ever had the displeasure of using? Now tell me what you think.

The Next May’n Event Videos

There was a Tekken Tag Tournament about 1 1/2 weeks ago at Wizzards arcade in Detroit involving participants from several different states (and 2 countries — making it an international tournament). I recorded that tournament in its entirety. I am now taking preorders for tapes of that tournament along with 4 Tekken tournaments from the past. You can read more info and place an order if you like at this page. Now tell me what you think.

Quickies time!  They are the space robots, they are here to protect us from the terrible secret of space.  Please don’t stand by the stairs!  ~  Here is the best stick fighting animation I’ve ever seen, how about you?  ~  Just when I thought RAM prices already hit an all time low, I find out that 256MB of PC133 goes for $39 on Price Watch right now.  2GB of RAM sounds good, hmm…  ~  If you’re like most, you have wasted countless hours on what is now known as Hot or Not.  But what about some of the lesser known sites like Monkey Hot or Not, Am I Geek or Not, and Am I Goth or Not?  More sites can be found in the message boards. Now tell me what you think.

All Knowing

So you think you know a lot about national leaders of the world? Or perhaps you prefer TV over history. Either way, here is a little challenge for you. You think of either a dictator or a sitcom star, it will ask you a series of yes or no questions and then tell you the person you were thinking of. It has correctly guessed every person I tried. Sometimes it takes longer and sometimes it only takes a few questions, but it has always gotten it right. Give it a shot, and if you can find one, then share with us someone that it doesn’t guess correctly. Now tell me what you think.

Halloween 2000

We’ve finally got pictures of last Halloween up. I’ve been promising these to people for months, and now here they are. For those that were there, it’s a nice reminder. For those that weren’t there, it’s a peek at the event that was Halloween of 2000. Here they are for now, and you can also find it under features. Now tell me what you think.

It may seem like I’m complaining a lot lately, but that’s because there’s good reason to complain. You already know about my host’s downtime recently. I know they transferred or are transferring the site to a new server. Whatever they’re doing, they’re not doing it very well. Now it seems a bunch of data was lost. Everything that was done Thursday afternoon (and morning?) was lost. Some changes I made to files and a bunch of forum posts are gone. It seems like the site was restored from a backup that was done this morning or yesterday. As much as I dislike the hassle of moving the site, they are getting close to crossing the line. Especially if they don’t compensate me somehow. They definitely owe me (and you, the users) something, even if only a very good explanation, although probably something more. Now tell me what you think.

Update: Damn. I just realized even more than that was lost. Everything from before 3pm today is gone. Yesterday afternoon and evening are gone. Good thing I didn’t do a lot of work on the site during that time. It just screwed the forum up more than anything. Ridiculous.

Circus Peanuts

The movie listings script was messed up. And I could have actually used it today. My mobile phone just recently got internet access, which is where I got the idea for a page of today’s movie listings. What’s better than movie listings, descriptions and ratings at my fingertips, 24 hours a day? But today I wanted to check when a movie was on, so I pull out my phone, go to the url, and BAM! it doesn’t work  :(. Oh well, at least it’s fixed now.

This is kind of funny. And this sign confuses me. Well, not the words, but what the heck are the words written on? Some hideous pink sign with vague shapes in it? Or is it just digitally edited? These pictures came from Wojo coincidentally enough :).

The site was down for many, many hours Monday night and Tuesday morning. It was down for a bit the other day also. And there were some configuration problems the other day also (the big CGIWRAP error messages if you saw them). I think they need to give me some compensation for the down time. According to my calculation, I lost at least $237,000 in sales. They will pay. Now tell me what you think.
