Laying down a bit of (internet) history on yo ass

Visit the Internet Archive, it’s seriously amazing! They have been archiving the Internet since 1996, and have over 100 TB and 11 billion pages archived. I typed in some random pages, and found Hotmail when it was known as HoTMaiL, lol. Check it out.

Creative PlayCenter

Creative recently changed the way they handle software for the Nomad line of mp3 players. You can no longer download the PlayCenter software upgrades. So if you bought the player early (like me), then you’re stuck with the old version of PlayCenter which doesn’t work with XP and sucks in general and have no way to upgrade. To get the new version you have to request a CD (that isn’t available yet) and pay shipping. Or I’ve found that you can still download the newest version here: http://download.creative.com/creativeware/pc2/v2-5r1/Pc2Full.exe.

MGS

We went to this last night. GMS was good. It was strange though because he didn’t really spin. He had no CDs or records that I could see. His whole set was apparently programmed into an iBook (with mp3s?), so he didn’t really have to touch it throughout the night. But then he also had various keyboards and effects generators and such hooked up which he played with all night. Definitely the best part though was when he put in parts of the Requiem for a Dream overture. I don’t know if it was a remix or if he was just mixing things in, but it was fuckin fantabulous. So good. I wish it was a remix, and I could get it. But I’m doubtful after looking for it for a while.

MWC Videos

The next batch of Midwest Championship videos are up in the Media section. Enjoy.

Storm Hunters

Well, the search for the meteor shower didn’t go quite as planned. The fog began moving in as the night started. Our starting point was fogged over from the start, so we tried to find a better vantage point. But the fog had covered every place we tried to go. By 5:30 we chalked it up as hopeless and headed home. We saw a few, but nothing that would qualify as a “storm.” Stupid fog. We got nice footage of Jethro and the muffler-mobile, though. It’s late/early now.. 7:50 am.. sleep.

Discharge

Well, I was bored so I checked the links over there on the right. And who could resist this? Which led to this. And, well, yup, that’s just something I didn’t want to know. I mean, I knew. But I didn’t know. Now I just want to go back to what I knew, which wasn’t as much.

American Flags

To tell you the truth, I get a little whiff of inspiration and pride when I’m driving down the highway and see American flags on 2/3 of the vehicles. That’s a nice feeling. But when some dumbass is flying a big flag above their very strange van-looking vehicle and driving like a total and completely clueless idiot, I’m reminded that America is still full of more than it’s share of morons. Flying the flag doesn’t mask their idiocy, it just reflects it upon the country. Oh well, at least they get credit for being patriotic and supportive… which is good.. right?

Leonids

Just a reminder to myself that I want to check out the storm this weekend. Anyone want to join me? I wonder where the best local vantage point would be. (first saw at Geeklife)

South Park

Damn, South Park was great. I feel fortunate to have been able to watch it TWICE last night, as my TiVo is out of commission at the moment. Have they all been as funny? I missed just about the entire last season. I seem to remember them being not as funny, so I drifted away. But damn, that was good.

Music Tick

My music collection had outgrown my storage means, so I had to expand. Now I need to organize the music. It is quite a chore. I believe I’m going to create 27 or so directories (A,B,…,Y,Z,0-9), sorted by Artist. We’ll see how that goes.

And everyone watch The Tick tomorrow! Because I said so, and I’m right. Do it.
